In the formulation system of adhesives, although naphthalene is rarely known to the public, it plays a key role and can be regarded as the "behind the scenes hero" in improving the comprehensive performance of adhesives. For example, adding refined naphthalene to the adhesive used in woodworking can cause the adhesive to lose its fluidity faster after application, quickly adhere to the surface of wood, reduce waiting time, and improve work efficiency. In addition, refined naphthalene can optimize the rheological properties of the adhesive, allowing it to have better flowability during coating, and more easily spread evenly on the surface of the adhesive, forming a complete and continuous adhesive film, thereby enhancing the overall bonding strength.

Naphthalene also has a certain solubilizing effect. The formula of adhesives is often complex, and multiple components need to be evenly mixed to achieve the best effect. However, some polymer resins have poor solubility in solvents and are prone to problems such as delamination and precipitation.
